The very first Cinematic birth of Dinosaur was “Gertie” in 1912-14 created by Winsor MaCay who was an American Cartoonist and Animator in the animated film “Gertie the Dinosaur”. The Dinosaur was very cute and did tricks on his master in the movie. Another American, Willis O’Brien, who was a pioneer in Special Effects & a Stop-Motion Animator, was commissioned to create “The Dinosaur and the Missing Link: A Prehistoric Tragedy” in 1917. This was the time when model Making sculpting techniques & stop motion techniques were being used to create cinematic dinosaurs.
The most realistic & scary dinosaurs came into cinematic existence in 1993 film “Jurassic Park” directed by Steven Spielberg. Till this time much more scientific information about dinosaurs was available and Computer Generated Imagery had replaced the old animation techniques. After that it was the VFX era to re-create anything more realistic and believable. This Animation & VFX era has increased the demand of Animation & VFX professionals and gave birth to many Animation institutes to train the people and fulfill the demands of the industry worldwide.
